What are Menthol Crystals used for?
Menthol Crystals have a powerful antiseptic effect and are highly refreshing and cooling. They purify the air, increase attention, concentration and ease breathing. Menthol Crystals work well in study, meditation, flu, cold and in work groups. They can be a relief for asthmatics. Menthol is obtained by extraction from mint plants. In nature menthol is mainly found in peppermint oil and plants of the Mentha family (Mentha piperita, Mentha arvensis). Peppermint oil contains 35 to 60% menthol.
How can Menthol Crystals best be used?
Skin care creams, dissolve in essential oils for easy use in aromatherapy treatments, in the sauna and dissolve in alcohol.
Use 1: anti-itch creams
You can apply a small amount of menthol crystals in an ointment to promote blood flow. You can also add menthol as an alcoholic solution in anti-itch creams.
Use 2: dissolve in essential oils
Dissolve the crystals in essential oils such as Eucalyptus oil or Lavender oil to use the refreshing effect of the menthol in combination with another scent in the sauna. When the menthol crystals are dissolved in an essential oil, they are also easier to use in aromatherapy treatments.
Use 3: in the sauna
First pour with ice or water and then put a few menthol crystals on the stove in a scoop of ice. Let the menthol crystals melt on the stove.
Usage 4: Dissolve in Alcohol
Menthol crystals can also be dissolved in alcohol or lukewarm water before use. A solution of 2 to 10% is the most convenient. Be aware of the risk of fire, so always add water or ice before pouring alcohol. Our guideline for mixing is to apply 25 ml (alcohol incl. Menthol crystals) to 5 liters of water. You can adjust this amount as needed.
