What is a barley grain?
Barley grains look like small, white granules in or under the skin.
A barley grain is a small cavity in a hair follicle.
There is hardened sebum in the cyst.
How can barley grains be removed?
The barley grains can be removed through a small incision with a sterile needle and the contents pushed out.
Be careful around the eyes.
This is sensitive skin.
After the treatment, barley grains can come back.
Proceed as follows:
- Wash your hands with water and hand soap and dry them well.
- Soak the skin around the barley grain by placing a warm, clean, slightly damp washcloth on the skin.
- Clean the barley grain by gently dabbing it with a cotton pad and warm water.
- Carefully pierce a sterile needle or pin a small hole on or next to the grain.
- Then you can simply push out the barley grain with two cotton balls or cotton swabs.
- Disinfect the skin afterwards to work as hygienically as possible and to prevent new barley grains as much as possible.
Tip: If it doesn't work right away, let the barley grain rest and try again later.
