Product description

Fragrance Bergamot essential oil

Bergamot fruits are a cross between a type of lime (Citrus limetta) and a sour orange (Citrus aurantium). The scent is therefore a bit sweeter than Lemon and a bit more sour than Orange oil. Bergamot oil (Citrus Bergamia) has a fresh, soft, lively, sweet scent.
Bergamot oil is a citrus oil that clearly distinguishes itself from other citrus scents.
This is the only citrus essential oil that does not have Limonene as its main ingredient.
The main components in Bergamot are Linalool and Linalyl acetate.

Extraction of Bergamot essential oil

The name Bergamot comes from the city of Bergamo in Italy. The Bergamot is a member of the diamond family. It is a small tree with oval leaves and the bergamot fruit, which is often green, yellow, somewhat pear-shaped. The tree is usually pruned to a height of 4 - 5 meters and grown in the coastal areas of southern Italy. Around 1700, Bergamot was already grown commercially for the cold-pressed bergamot oil from the fresh peels. The essential oil is extracted from the outer layer of the peel of the ripe fruit.
This Bergamot essential oil for aromatherapy is extracted by cold pressing from fresh bergamot peels of the ripe Citrus Bergamia fruit from Italy.
1 liter of Bergamot oil (or 20,000 drops of Bergamot oil) requires more than 200 kilos of fresh Bergamot peels.
Bergamot oil has a light green to yellow-green color and somewhat resembles the smell of a sour orange. Bergamot essential oil often appears as the well-known aroma of earl gray tea, but in aromatherapy this citrus oil is often used for its relaxing effect and its cleansing effect.
